TiO2-Coated ZnO Nanowire Arrays: A Photocatalyst with Enhanced Chemical Corrosion Resistance

Photocatalysis is proven to be the most efficient and environmentally friendly method for degradation of organic pollutants in water purification. To meet requirement large-scale treatment, there are two important points: One lifetime chemical stability photocatalyst material, especially complex harsh aqueous conditions. The other ease synthesis such photocatalysts with specific nano-morphology. In this work, common materials, zinc oxide (ZnO) titanium dioxide (TiO2), selected form more sustainable high stability. This involves combination both TiO2 ZnO a two-step simple method. It appears advantageous exploit conformal deposition atomic layer (ALD) achieve nanometer-thick coating on nanowires (NWs) aspect ratio, which firmly anchored substrate exhibit large surface area. ALD has been investigated detail effective under strong acid alkaline solutions. addition, photocatalysis experiments dyes show that via method, produced ZnO/TiO2 tandem does indeed improved environment, while allowing photodegradation.
